Jean-Yves Le Marc
Jean-Yves Le Marc was born 1961 in the Finistère region of Brittany, where he still lives and works today.
Pastel gras (oil pastel) is the artist´s favourite medium which he uses like modelling clay. The compacted material lets vibrate the colours and makes the picture´s surface shimmer velvety. The painter composes finely nuanced areas of colour, contrasting vibrantly or tone-in-tone, into pictorial works of great clarity, whose motifs are characterised by the landscape surrounding him – sky and ocean, day and night, ships, rocks, builidings. Jean-Yves Le Marc´s convincing play of colours and quiet rhythm of shapes create images of great expressiveness, profound sensitivity and passion.
The JANZEN Gallery shows the artist´s work in a solo exhibition for the first time in Germany.
